The teen workshop was a wild success last summer, so we are going to do it again and offer a more extensive calendar this coming summer . This is a great workshop to learn how to sew and design, make some friends, or bring a fired with you and bond over a shared interest.
Classes are small to ensure all students have the attention they need, but the freedom to get “messy’ artistically. This is a great workshop for beginners and ones with experiencee. Our curriculum holds no one back and aims to honestly teach well.
Students will learn news skills everyday and make projects that they choose. Older students can handle a little more complexity than a younger student because they learn differently and we respect this. Therefore students have full control over their experience all the while learning the basics and moire advanced skills.
Students may sign uo for 1 week or multiple weeks as not day or week is the same experience . The studio is full equipped to take a student to where they want to go. Sop whether its a simply a new skill too learn, or a costume they would like to make, or even portfolio pieces for college bound students, Camp Couture is your ideal source. We do our best to give all of our knowledge to students in proportion to how fast they can learn and absorb. We can’t stress enough, we hold no one back. We want you to get as much as you can fro the experience as possible. And even after the class, students are always welcome to ask questions or guidance. We are there for you.
With 18 years in business, we have helped all those achieve their goals and aspirations. Whether its just basic sewing, learning a new hobby, acquiring a lifeskill that they’ll carry with them all throughout their lives, or getting into a top art schools art in America and in Europe, Camp Couture prides itself on helping students attain what they set out to do.
How this section works:
Teen only workshops are from ages 13 years to 18 years old.
3.30 p.m. – 6.30 p.m. Monday – Friday during the summer months off June July and August.
Tuition $855 – includes all fabric*, machines, notions, patterns + instruction. Students are encouraged to bring in old clothes to revamp, repair/mend and ideas of their own as to what they want to create. AS mentioned, we have everything, but we are open to what you want to make.
Finally, as with teens, they go off to college and move on with life, this section is still finding its footing attendance wise. The classes are small in size, which is good for the teach student ratio, and we will maintain that positive ratio where the student is number one. Class sizes will vary due to the nature of this new section, and the time of year ( vacation schedules differ, student availability, etc… ) it’s hard to tell how populated any one week will be. But rest assure, the content of work being taught is engaging, multifaceted, creative and down right fun. We aim to teach well
We pride ourselves in a European work ethic. With that being said, we encourage attending with a friend to make the experience more social should they want this. But!!!!!!!! by all means this in NOT necessary. We aim to teach well and thoroughly , and although important, the social aspect comes in second, preparing oneself with this aspect like bringing a friend might be helpful for those that want this.
In the workshop students will:
Learn to operate a sewing machine and navigate the tool with confidence.
Learn to use a serger. They’ll learn to thread the serger and apply the machine to a project where relevant.
Learn to create and be creative and explore artist elements that make projects more interesting and layered artistically. Be prepared to get a little messy, but in an utmost most fun way.
They’ll learn to use a zipper, learn basic repairs, learn to hem, learn problem solving techniques machine wise , learn to read a pattern, learn to alter garments and much more.
They’ll learn several hand sewing techniques.
Projects will include up cycling, bags, cosplay / costumes, making wearable garments, making accessories both wearable and decorative ( pillows, bags, etc). We have an extensive menu of options to make to choose from. There is something for everyone, rest assure.
The environment is supportive, cool and fun. It’s a unique workshop geared for those that want to tap into their creative side and take it to a new level. All levels are welcome. So if you are new or if you have currently possess skills, we will only make them better.
Make a series of small projects or a bigger project to show for their time spent. Students skillset and learning speed/comprehension will ultimately dictate the complexity of the project, but by no means at all a simple project is not less than a complex project. In whatever they choose, skills will be taught and a series of useful project will have been created to take home and enjoy.
